Where the desert meets the sea. Hurghada boasts some of the world's finest coral reefs, crystalline turquoise water, and year-round sunshine — the perfect complement to any Egypt cultural tour.
Hurghada's greatest attraction lies beneath the surface — but the beaches, islands, and desert adventures above water are equally compelling.
A protected national park 45 minutes by boat from Hurghada marina. Giftun's coral gardens teem with sea turtles, moray eels, lion fish, and hundreds of reef fish species. The white sand beaches and turquoise lagoons are among Egypt's most beautiful natural landscapes.
A pristine bay on Giftun's southern shore — soft white sand, shallow warm water, and vibrant coral just metres from the beach. One of the most photographed spots in the Red Sea. Ideal for swimming, snorkelling, and simply soaking in the surreal colour of the water.
Hurghada is a world-class diving destination with 50+ dive sites. The Abu Nuhas wreck dives, Erg Somaya coral gardens, and Sha'ab Abu Nuhas are legendary among divers. Multiple PADI dive centres offer lessons for complete beginners to advanced dive masters.
Also known as Sha'ab El Erg — a shallow reef 30 minutes from Hurghada where a resident pod of spinner dolphins regularly visits in the mornings. Swimming alongside wild dolphins in their natural habitat is a truly magical experience.
The Eastern Desert behind Hurghada is vast and dramatic. Quad bike and jeep safaris venture into the mountains where Bedouin communities have lived for generations — a fascinating contrast to the glittering sea on the other side of the city.
Just 30 minutes north, El Gouna is Egypt's most elegant resort town — built on a series of interconnected islands and lagoons. Excellent restaurants, art galleries, a golf course, and a gorgeous waterfront make it a perfect day or evening excursion from Hurghada.
Hurghada International Airport receives direct flights from Europe, the Gulf, and Cairo (1 hr). It's also a common last stop on Egypt tours before international departure.
Hurghada is one of Egypt's most weather-consistent destinations. Sea temperatures range from 22°C (winter) to 30°C (summer). October–May is ideal — summer can reach 40°C on land.
Hurghada's reefs are accessible to both snorkellers and divers. The best snorkelling is at Giftun Island and Orange Bay. For diving, book through a reputable PADI-certified centre.
Sahl Hasheesh is the most upscale area — quieter, with pristine beaches and premium resorts. El Dahar is the older town with more authentic atmosphere. Hadaba has mid-range options.
Book island trips through your Egyptian Vibe guide rather than beach vendors — quality and safety standards vary enormously. Private boat charters offer the best experience.
The Red Sea is generally calm — no tides, minimal currents in sheltered areas. Wind can pick up Nov–Feb. The reef just 100m offshore from Hurghada's beaches can be explored independently.
The combination of ancient monuments and crystal-clear Red Sea is what makes Egypt unique among travel destinations. We seamlessly combine cultural tours with Red Sea relaxation — all privately arranged.
